This introductory book discusses the essentials of understanding and interpreting the novel through the awareness of the basis of the construction of the literary piece upon language and social structural considerations and outlines. It is designed mainly for postgraduate students in African higher education exploring ways of approaching the interpretation and meaning-making of narratives, in particular of novels, and those learning how to teach literature to students. It is rooted in the Sociology of Literature and Literary Theory.

Dr. Casimir Adjoe is a Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of the Education Unit, Central University, Ghana. Dr. Adjoe is a member of several Professional bodies including: British Association of Applied Linguists (BAAL), International Association of Applied Linguists (AILA) Linguistic Association of Ghana (LAG) and others.
