Description
This book is based on scientific research. It highlights workable protocols used in culturing and characterizing cyanobacteria. These photosynthetic bacteria have cells that are relatively larger than those of other phyla of bacteria and may be classified into their genera by simply observing under the light microscope. They are of great economic importance and their potential has barely been exploited. The book aims at exposing research gaps for future scientists.
About the Author
Bancy Muruga holds a doctorate in Microbiology and has long been a lecturer in institutions of higher learning. She had the opportunity during her research to work under the guidance of one Prof. S. M. Duboise utilizing his simple, self-designed medium to successfully culture haloalkaliphilic bacteria. This served as an encouragement to design protocols during her work with cyanobacteria. She hopes to encourage upcoming researchers not to give up on their research proposals particularly when protocols are not forthcoming in literature.
