Description

The story of brutal Superintendent Alai, Wadik Base and his junior officers captures the image of what is happening in their station. It covers several cases of threat, misuse of public resources, intimidation, and corruption, abuse of power, hypocrisy, and murder among others. Shortly after Superintendent Alai is transferred to this new base, he identifies a number of loyalists that he will use to execute his evil acts. He sidelines all the others.

Cases of corruption become rampant. Corporal Jong, for example, pays a hundred thousand to alter his transfer and fix sergeant Dickson.

Carolina bribes Alai in order to cover up her relative, Atiko, from a robbery case.

Aping is forced to apply a bank loan to bribe Alai so that he’d allow him to visit his sick brother in hospital.

Intimidation and threat is common. Sergeant Dickson and other officers arrest a business man Mr. Okong. Alai intervenes and orders them to release him, hoping that the rich man would send cash to him for the favour.

Cases of murder happen when Alai requests Belin to kill Sergeant Dickson for spying on him and giving crucial documents to detective Waki. Belin declines and Superintendent Alai orders Corporal Jong to murder him.

No doubt about misuse of public resources and abuse of power at Wadik base. Alai assigns a number of officers and a public vehicle for his home and farm use. Others are forcefully assigned to serve as domestic servants to his wife Rachael and children.

Betty is transferred to a hardship area after declining Alai’s sexual demand. Her new environment was unfavorable, especially with her young baby, Malia. When Malia fell ill, she is unable to take her to the hospital quickly due to poor state of roads. Malia succumbs and dies on the way. Betty finally commits suicide.

Detectives Waki, Songa and Chumba have been collecting evidence against Alai secretly through his officers. They present it to a vetting board. Boke, who had been unfairly treated by Superintendent Alai had become the chairman of the board.

Superintendent Alai is finally brought to justice. He is arrested for his crimes as he goes through vetting process.

About The Author

Sam Gitau is a dedicated policeman with vast experience that extends to over ten years.

He comes from a really small family but some of his relatives served in the police force. He was brought up in a remote village where crime rate was shockingly high.

The demand for social justice and fairness in the society motivated him to join the police force at an early age. He believes that he is serving his calling other than duty. He freshly recalls a day in primary school when the head teacher called him and two others to investigate a case where class eight pupils had stolen several books in the staffroom. He was barely in class five.

At an early age, he wished to be part of those solving social problems in the society-Police.

After graduating from a police college in 2009, his passion was not only to serve justly, but also to write crime fiction. More than excited is his debut novel.

He has great sense of humor. While he is not writing or reading a novel, he is probably watching an action movie.
