About Author

Hema Kanta Barua is a civil engineer specialized in structural engineering, with a Ph.D. (1976) from IIT Kharagpur. His professional career spans two main phases: Part A in teaching and research (1966–1978 and 2010–2023), and Part B in the construction industry (1978–2009). In 1988, he founded his own private limited company, RGT Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd., which remains in operation today. Dr. Barua has published several papers in both international and national journals and served as editor of The Construction Tribune, a fortnightly technical news record, from 1982 to 1996. He has also participated in international platforms including the UN Commission’s Colloquium on PPPs in Vienna, the IGCC Delegation Trip to Germany on Energy Efficiency in Buildings, and the Sixth World Conference on Earthquake Engineering. This is Dr. Barua’s second book, following his recently published first work, A Journey through the Construction Industry.
