Description

This is a book on the art of teacher leadership. Teachers are leaders who influence teaching and learning outcomes in a school environment. The work of teaching assumes a complex and intricate nature, expanding to cover the art of knowledge and social value transference. In this text the identity of teachers covers the professional approach to teaching within the framework of leadership for learning, hence expatiating the conception of teachership to include meaningfulness and socio-moral domains.Teachership is examined with the lenses of professional citizenship as in corporate belonging to such as a worthwhile group of professionals whose purpose-driven calling is to educate society, meaningfully and morally. This is aside from cognitive development of children. As teachers they are encouraged to show leadership acumen that demands aptness in getting favourable results, and showing the ability to be resourceful, entrepreneurship in solving classroom needs.Teachership in this case is examined as a spiritual endeavour, with a sociomoral commitment, that culminate a ‘higher’ calling. It is framed in spirituality, integrity, and authenticity Therefore this text shows how teachership commands spirituality, purposefulness, and the need for high moralization. Teachership calls for moral reasoning behind all decisions that affect educational outlooks in any society. It is a must read for any serious career choice of being a teacher.
