Description

‘Trial on course’ is a juxtaposition of two stories that were fatefully connected. Makau, a butcher, Sule’s father and husband to Sara was pressured to leave Mashari, the main city and Capital of Mashari state by his old father living in a village called Tsibiri, few kilometers away from Mashari. Following the increase in crime rate and poor investigation in Mashari, Makau’s father feared for his son and urged him to come back home to take over the farming activities from him. The idea was not welcomed by Makau, and he assured his father that he will bring a glory to him and the entire village of Tsibiri. What could be that glory? Is it something materialistic? Of course not, it was Sule. Makau wanted Sule to study in very good schools in the city and becomes example to the village where farming was the only prioritized job. Makau hadn’t got the opportunity to study but he was adamant that his son must study. Sule, on the other hand is a brilliant student who paid much emphasis on football than his studies, and was full of hope to make his living from it. The dance of child’s psychology and his parent’s mentality about life played a major role in trying to resolve the conflict between Makau and his son. Makau wanted his son to become a doctor, a lawyer or anything else he wished to become, but not a footballer. After receiving a vague message from his hometown, Makau had to travel to find out what was amiss. He found out that his father was dead and left a message for him. It was time to go back home.He disclosed the message to his family on coming back to Mashari. Sule’s dream was near impossible if they leave Mashari. But unwillingly they had to.Before Makau ready himself to relocate to Tsibiri, he fatefully jumped into a murder case of Alhaji Mai Akwai who was a friend to Honourable Mainasara. Mai Akwai left Honourable’s house in the night and few minutes later his body was found along the highway. Unfortunate for Makau, by that time he was leaving his business for home when he saw the poor man gasping for air and crying to have water. He jumped from his bike to render help not knowing it was his death knell. Police followed him, arrested him and he was charged for murder. Because enough and reliable evidences cannot be provided by Makau’s counsel, he lost the case and was sentenced to death by hanging. After Makau’s trial, one of the police officers who felt there was hidden truth about Makau’s trial, took it personal to find out who were the real murderers of Alhaji Mai Akwai. Superintendent Haris collaborated with the Department of State Security and finally found the subjects involved. They included Honourable Mainasara, Commissioner of police and the Red Star Mobster among others. Red Star were convicted and sentenced to death. Commissioner was fired from the police force.
